What is one of the first questions you ask when you meet someone? Most often, it is “What do you do?” This question is more than just an opportunity to introduce yourself or find out about another person… it is a reflection of our culture and how much we think a career defines you. Most of us spend the better part of our lives working, therefore it is vitally important that the way you spend your time from 9-5 (or whatever hours you work) feeds your soul and is an expression of who you say you are in the world. Your purpose, however, is more than just your career… it’s your CALLING.
If you are retired, it is obviously much easier to dictate your daily schedule than if you work, but you still must be connected to a greater PURPOSE in order to experience real fulfillment.
Whichever life phase you are in, having your day be a reflection of your goals, commitments and passions is crucial to whole life balance. This is your purpose.
