Let me say it again: recessions are bullshit. My interpretation of a recession is a bunch of business people getting together and looking for excuses for why they are failing. Their answers come from outside of themselves. They do not consider their own greed, poor management skills and bad business models; they look to the economy, lack of consumer confidence, a down market, yada… yada… yada… and the conversation grows as they widen their circle and get agreement. More bad business people join them and enroll the media and soon the public starts clamping down.
Now, this does not mean that there are not some REAL roadblocks to growth in the economy right now. But, a creative, resourceful, innovative business owner can take advantage of the clueless herd (described above) and create growth, that, as the herd turns and the economy rebounds, will be exponential and unprecidented in the next five years.
Growth is available today for those who are unwilling to be sucked into the cultural conversations about recessions and poor economies, etc. I have clients who report expansion and growth on a WEEKLY BASIS. I have brilliant entreprenuers actually TURNING BUSINESS away because they are overwhelmed by demand and delighted to be picky about who they work with. Attitude and conversation are everything.
If you believe we are in a recession and your business will fail, you will be right.
The key to growth in these times is to seek opportunity, speak possibility and innovate in marketing. Be relentless. Have conversations with everyone you meet about your growth, your goals and your dreams. Refuse to be sucked into the “recession herd mentality” and you will prosper.

Oh you are so right! I loved this posting. Is there any chance we could get this to the House, Senate, and The White House?
