I keep looking to breakthrough the thing that keeps me from doing what I say every day with regards to food. I seem to be able to justify anything I want to get me out of having 100% integrity on a daily basis. This is clearly a lack of self discipline. However, what if it is also an indication of a lack of self love. I found this quote today and it speaks volumes:
“No one tells the truth about why self-discipline is so important. Discipline is the strongest form of self love. It is ignoring current pleasures for bigger rewards to come.”
I know I’m not alone; most of us lie to ourselves about a myriad of things. But consider that if discipline is the strongest form of self love, that means that someone who is 50-100+ pounds overweight can’t possibly “love themselves.” We may pretend to, but our bodies don’t lie. We are inauthentic if we are saying we love ourselves, because if we DID love ourselves, we would make the RIGHT choices to have our bodies reflect the healthiest, best version of ourselves.
Try this on. What does this quote mean to you? What is going on in YOUR head that is having YOU choose things for instant gratification that you KNOW will not serve you in the long term?
