As human beings, we constantly worry about things that are beyond our control. Even further, that worry turns into anxiety and we make a huge deal about things that really are just NO. BIG. DEAL. Take my colonoscopy, for example: I’ve avoided it for over two years because I didn’t want to be uncomfortable, the prep is brutal and the whole procedure is just gross. So I ignored my doctor when he said to schedule one two years ago when I turned 50.
Well, I had it this morning, and you guessed it, it was no big deal. Sure, the prep wasn’t fun… but, again, it was no where near as bad as what I had thought it would be.
As human beings, why do we do this? Doesn’t it make more sense to expect the BEST, rather than expect the worst? I’m taking that on today and for the rest of this challenge: EXPECT THE BEST. When I think of all of the time and energy I have given to worry and dread with regards to my procedure today, I cringe because it really was no big deal.
So, the opportunity for you is to take a look at your own life: what are you making a BIG FAT DEAL about that probably won’t come to fruition? Challenge yourself to push through it, lean in and let the fear go.
