I read an article about Jack Canfield today. When asked what he attributed to his great success, he said he became a master at “making a decision against himself.” I thought this was a very poignant way to describe that automatic way of being I’ve been distinguishing internally since day one.
I’ve said that I feel as if there’s a “past me” arguing against a “future me” trying to keep my bad habits in place. Canfield articulated this really well–in order for you to become someone you currently aren’t, you have to make choices consistent with someone new. So, when my auto pilot (the old me) kicks in, I have to interrupt it and make a decision (against myself) to choose a different path.
This is a poignant way to describe the fight against your auto pilot, or even your inner demons, in order to grow and transform yourself.
So, what can YOU make a decision against yourself TODAY that will forward your growth to become that FUTURE YOU?
