Very few people wake up and leap out of bed, pull of the shade with excitement and welcome each new day. Honestly, I am a morning person, and most days I’m happy to wake up and get going. However, there are many days where the alarm goes off and I roll over, groaning, thinking I don’t want to! Today was one of those days.
So, what do you do to change the trajectory of a day that starts in the crapper? The easy solution is to create a morning routine that literally feeds your soul and sets your intention for the day. My routine starts with an alarm 30 minutes before I actually “have to get up.” This gives me time to sit, create, and get my head around who I want to be today–the best version of me, NOT the I don’t want to monster. (No one wants that version of me around… blech!)
First, here’s what NOT to do in the morning: pick up your phone and scroll through social media or check out your texts and emails. Brendon Burchard, who is a high performance guru points out that doing this IMMEDIATELY PUTS YOU AT EFFECT of other people’s wishes, opinions and agendas, and I totally agree with him. Instead, don’t touch your phone until you have set YOUR OWN INTENTIONS and mood for the day. This will make you bulletproof to all that will come your way during the hours ahead.
Your morning routine can include bible study, meditation, affirmations, a motivational book, or music that speaks to you and elevates your mood… really ANYTHING and everything that will help you create a day WORTHY OF YOUR PASSION.
What can you create for yourself to start YOUR day out on the right foot? I’d love to hear some suggestions! Please comment and share below!
