How many times do I have to make a mistake before I learn from it? We’ve all heard the saying: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.” Evidentially, I am a hard-headed human because I keep repeating the same mistakes and then getting frustrated.
It’s ridiculous.
You will get where you are going as long as you don’t change direction.
—Chinese proverb
For me, frustration is dangerous. It’s a trigger for me to eat to push down the feelings I don’t like to deal with. My goal is to keep myself out of situations where frustration arises, but let’s be honest, I cannot avoid confronting feelings 100% of the time. I have to learn to deal with them more effectively. I must learn better coping mechanisms to substitute when I want to overeat.
On this trip, I have learned that solitude is a great resource for me when I’m feeling stressed. It centers me… grounds me… gets me present to God and what I’m committed to.
The job at hand is for me to continue to focus on the big picture and get where I’m going… NO CHANGING DIRECTION. If you are interested in producing a result, you’ll do it as long as it is easy. But if you are COMMITTED, you’ll do it through the hard until you produce the result.
