Everyone knows that if your business has continual growth, of course you have continual profits… I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT BUSINESS GROWTH. I’m talking about personal growth. I’m talking about more than a positive attitude… rather, a positive and unrelenting spirit. If you have stopped growing, experimenting and trying new things in your life, then you are stagnant, and so is your business. If you have a dreary, joyless life, then you can’t attract customers. (Who wants to hang out with you and give you money if you don’t bring light into their lives?)
In order for you to maximize your business profits, you need to continue to grow and develop, personally. You need to manage your health, integrity and relationships. You need to feel good about who you are and where you are going. In one word, what YOU need is:
POSSIBILITY
What do GE, Disney, HP and Microsoft have in common? They were all startups during steep declines in the U.S. economy. GE started during the panic of 1873, Disney started during the recession of 1923-24, HP began during the Great Depression, and Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft during the recession of 1975. All of these business owners started billion-dollar businesses in “impossible” times. And the reason they succeeded is because they had possibility. They were propelled by a vision and knew they could make it happen.
This single word, possibility, is the key to re-inventing yourself in a slow economy. If you don’t have possibility, you’ve got nothing, and your business will follow suit.
The answer, then, is simple. It’s time to reinvent. Go back to the drawing board. Remember why you started this business and what you wanted out of it. Create a new vision and find something to get excited about… then, make it real in the world.
